Ambassador Bernstein
Rebild Remarks and Presidential Message
July 4, 2004
Ladies and Gentlemen, Friends of America.
I cannot begin to tell you how wonderful it is to be back here in Rebild to celebrate American Independence with all of you. It is a great honor for me to bring greetings from President Bush. But before I do so, I have a special announcement to make.
It is with great pride that I announce that former President George Herbert Walker Bush known as “41” because he was the 41st President has accepted the invitation to serve as Honorary President of the Rebild Society. He is only the second American to serve in that capacity since President William Howard Taft. Former President Bush is a great American, and I know how proud he is to be associated with Rebild.
And now let me read the President’s message:
Laura and I send warm greetings to all Danes and Americans gathered in the magnificent Rebild Hills for the celebration of American Independence.
The fidelity with which you have continued this tradition since 1912 bears witness to the enduring friendship between our two great nations. It is a gesture Americans appreciate deeply.
At a time of great challenges and sacrifices, America especially values the support and encouragement that Denmark provides towards our shared goals of democracy, freedom and prosperity in Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere. Time and again,
Denmark has demonstrated its leadership and its humanity in international affairs. Together, Americans and Danes must always strive to maintain the momentum of democracy and to uphold the universal principles of the Declaration of Independence.
The United States takes pride in its friendship with Denmark and is grateful for the many contributions that citizens of Danish descent have made to the success of our country.
By gathering in Rebild today for the only celebration of American independence outside of the United States, Danes and Americans give the world a wonderful example of good will and understanding between nations.
I wish you all a very happy Fourth of July.
Signed,
George W. Bush

Ole Henriksen
Americas top beauty specialist is actually a Dane. Ole Henriksen was born and raised in a tiny village, Nibe, in the Danish countryside. From an early age he was drawn to nature. Embracing the therapeutic powers of plant life, Ole has built his spa treatments and product line around natures most potent extracts.
Ole received his degrees in skin care, including cosmetic chemistry in London, before venturing over to the United States, where he now lives in Los Angeles. His philosophy of skin care is constantly featured on television and in magazines around the world, earning him the status of 'Skin Care Guru to the Stars.' Prominent department stores and cosmetic specialty stores from Copenhagen to Stockholm, Montreal, Berlin, New York, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore and many more carry his line of products.
Ole Henriksen tells us that his background from Denmark and his Danish cultural roots have had an important influence on the development of his company and not at least how it is organized today.
Etta Cameron
Etta Cameron was born in Nassau, Bahamas, British West Indies. Etta left the islands for the United States when she was 9 years old. She began her singing career in a Methodist church choir and first sang on the radio at the age of 10. In her early 20s she began to sing jazz and blues. She later decided to make Copenhagen her home and has since toured Europe many times performing in Jazz Festivals in major TV and Radio Shows, while at the same time continuing to perform in the US.
Over the past 20 years Etta Cameron has thrilled thousands of Danes with her moving spiritual concerts. Etta Cameron has for more than 35 years reached an unique, international and important position as a jazz-, swing- and gospel singer. The multi-talented singer composes, arranges and writes texts.
Over the years Etta Cameron has also appeared in musicals and films. She has had various roles - both on the large screen as the female lead role in the Danish film 'Peter Von Scholten' and in the theater with roles such as 'Bloody Mary' in the musical 'South Pacific'. Etta has since 1975 toured with her own orchestra 'The Etta Cameron Jazz Group', which has performed at jazz festivals all over Europe in concert halls and jazz clubs. She also performs with her gospel choir 'The Voices Of Joy', which has since 1982 has performed in churches, at Gospel programs and festivals. In 1987 she began to teach at The Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen, Denmark, where she since August 1995 has been an assistant music professor.
Camilla Ottesen
Though 32-year-old Camilla Ottesen does not hold a degree in television journalism, her professionalism is an expression of the natural flair and talent, not to mention, the experience she has gained from the jobs she has been offered along the way beginning with her stint as a newscaster on ZTV six years ago. Since then she has had many jobs both in front of and behind the camera.
In front of the camera she is best remembered as a dare devil cohost in TV3's entertainment program The Mission, Prisoners in the Fort, Tournesol and Rutsj, 'børne1'eren' and not at least as MGP host. This spring she has hosted DR1's new evening program where homemade 'do it yourself' mistakes had the chance to be fixed by Camilla and her professional team of skilled craftsmen.
